OFFERED
CHILD HEALTH
AND IMMUNISATIONS
Checks on your child’s growth
and development will be performed in conjunction with the health visitor.
IMMUNISATIONS
Appointments
for baby and children’s immunisations can be made with the practice nurse.
You will receive a letter when your child is due to be immunised. Please ring
the surgery to make an appointment.
ANTENATAL CLINIC/MATERNITY
CARE
Clinics are held on a Thursday afternoon.
All
doctors care for expectant mothers during routine surgeries and the midwife sees
them at these clinics.
FAMILY PLANNING/CONTRACEPTION
A range of services is available
from all doctors. Please make a routine appointment to see a doctor. Pregnancy
advice before contraception is available along with postnatal examinations.
CERVICAL SMEARS
Smears are recommended every five
years. This service is carried out by both practice nurses and doctors. Please
make an appointment.
HEALTH CHECKS
The doctors believe in preventing
and screening to catch diseases early when treatment may prevent later complications.
We offer the following:
• Checks for patients over
75 years of age
• New
patient medicals
•
Checks for asthmatic patients
•
Checks for diabetic patients
•
Well man/woman checks |
Included in these checks are blood
pressure, urine analysis, lifestyle advice regarding diet, exercise, smoking and
alcohol.
FOREIGN TRAVEL
When travelling abroad on holiday
or business for certain destinations, immunisations are required or recommended.
For advice on which of these are recommended and specific malaria prevention,
please make an appointment with the practice nurse at least six weeks before travel.
ADULT VACCINATION
Tetanus may develop in wounds that
can occur through accidents in the garden or street. Patients in "at risk" occupations may require Hepatitis B vaccination. Details on request.
ASTHMA/DIABETIC
CLINICS
These are run weekly by the practice
nurse and doctor. Please ask reception staff for details.
MINOR SURGERY
The doctors are able to perform minor
operations such as joint injections and the removal of warts and minor moles under
local anaesthetic without you needing to attend hospital.
NON-NHS SERVICES
Certain services provided by your
doctor are not covered by the NHS therefore a fee is payable as recommended by
the British Medical Association, details can be provided by the receptionist.
Eg.
- Pre-employment medicals
- HGV medicals
- PSV medicals including taxis
- Private sick notes
- Passport forms requiring signature
- Travel claim forms
- Some travel vaccinations
- Insurance reports not paid for by
an insurance company
- Access to medical records etc.
