WHAT
TO DO WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED
If you require a doctor when the
surgery is closed please ring 0345 605 9999.
Your call will be answered by
our out-of-hours service. A trained operator will answer the
call promptly and gather all the necessary details, eg telephone number, name,
address, your doctor's name and practice address.
If you need advice, a
doctor will be available to give it. If you need to see a doctor, you will be
asked to visit Lexicon House. You may be able to be picked up in a minibus and
returned home after your appointment. If you travel to the centre it means better
use will be made of the doctor's time as more patients can be seen on site than
if all patients were to be visited at home. If the doctor you speak to decides
you require a home visit, one of our mobile doctors will call to see you. If you
need to be seen this will be done just as your own doctor visits routinely, unless
a more urgent case appears whilst the doctor is on the way to see you. ALL CALLS
ARE RECORDED.
The Out of Hours Centre is not a means of getting a quick
appointment to see a doctor. It should not be used as such and you will not be
admitted without an appointment.
Please make sure your out of
hours call is absolutely necessary; this service is not a substitute for Accident
& Emergency.
Every time you go to the centre
or have a home visit there is a charge to your own doctor's surgery, therefore
please make sure you visit your own surgery during the day if you feel ill. Do
not wait until late to call.
